What a Day


April 16, 2010, was an all-day birthday celebration for our newly-turned 2-year-old. While Gracelyn waited for her birthday breakfast, she told Daddy how old she was. Note the twisted fingers in the air. That's how Gracelyn denotes #2:



Then it was time for birthday toast--an Olson family tradition. Every birthday, a single candle is placed in a piece of toast:



In the evening, guests started arriving with gifts. Gracelyn was so excited:



My mom and I worked during the afternoon to create Gracelyn's favorite character (Elmo), plus Big Bird and Cookie Monster. These cupcakes were so fun to make:
