Gift giving

Day 22: Peace

"I am leaving you with a gift—peace of mind and heart. And the peace I give is a gift the world cannot give. So don’t be troubled or afraid." John 14:27 (NLT)

This verse comes after Jesus tells his followers that he will be leaving...he uses these words in comfort.

The Message says this:

"I’m telling you these things while I’m still living with you. The Friend, the Holy Spirit whom the Father will send at my request, will make everything plain to you. He will remind you of all the things I have told you. I’m leaving you well and whole. That’s my parting gift to you. Peace. I don’t leave you the way you’re used to being left—feeling abandoned, bereft. So don’t be upset. Don’t be distraught."

What a gift to us...the ability not to be troubled. Not to be afraid. Not to be upset. Not to be distraught.

The ability to have peace.
