winter tag

Tag. You’re it!
Gonna admit something...I always liked playing tag! It gave me a chance to put my fast-twitch muscles to use. And just a few months ago, I found myself playing tag with some cute kids at a football game. Funny, how they all ignored each other in an effort to make ME ‘it’. HA!

Anyway, before Christmas, I was tagged by Tammy over at Grandma Mary Martha to participate in a fun, get-to-know you game. She gave me permission to defer my “tag” until January after my crazy schedule softened...bless you Tammy! Today, I making good on my promise, and starting my blogging year with something light-hearted and just for fun…

So, without further accolade…
my answers to WINTER TAG

What is your favorite Christmas tradition?
A few years ago, Brad and I started putting riddles on our kids’ gifts. Best addition ever. It is enjoyable because they get so excited as they try to figure them out! Next year, I will need to make our youngest’s riddles harder. Turns out, he is a good guesser!

What is your favorite lip product?
Vasoline! (I am not a product endorser)

What is your favorite winter scent?
I never wear perfume (my head/skin doesn’t take kindly to any scented products), so I am going to branch out of the norm on this one...my favorite winter smell is the fresh crispness of newly fallen snow!

What is your go-to winter fashion?
I LOVE winter fashion! Layers, sweaters, buffalo plaid, jeans, fleece-lined tights, scarves, coats, boots, mittens, hats...love it all.

Do you prefer to travel or stay home?
STAY HOME! But, as long as my travel itinerary allows for some down time, vacationing is also fun.

What is your favorite winter hair care product?
Winter, spring, summer, fall...GEL is my favorite product of all. My curly hair demands several palm-fulls each wash day. Currently I use Tresemme’s Flawless Curls, Bouncy Curls (again, not getting paid for mentioning this product)

What is your favorite winter activity?
Outside - SLEDDING
Inside - curling up with a good book and hot coffee (roaring fire is an added bonus)

What is your favorite winter beauty product?
My skin is always dry and worse in winter. I found Cortizone-10 eczema lotion to be the best at tackling awful dry spots. This is on top of my regular use of Curel lotion...because no fragrances! And it lasts! (Not getting paid here either!)

Do you love or hate snow?
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it! (Kansas doesn’t seem to get snow anymore though...or rain for that matter...seems we are in a drought of late)

What is your favorite winter comfort food?
Chicken and noodles over mashed potatoes! YUMMY!

Thumbs up or down for winter?
Thumbs up! Winter gets such a bad reputation, but I think it is enjoyable. It comes around like clockwork each year, and when I decided one winter that I wasn’t going to complain about the cold, I started to embrace it more and more. Snow has always been magical to me...and the possibility of a snow day puts a bounce in my step. Snow days are always special...bonus times to enjoy my family and magnify the Holder of the treasury of snow. Winter also always precedes spring...just like in the Gospel, without death to self, there isn’t life! Yay winter!

Now it’s YOUR turn! One of my goals for my writing ministry is to increase activity (aka communication/being social) on my online platforms. And part of that is getting to know YOU! I’d love it if you’d take a minute and pick a question (or more!)...and answer them...either in the comments here or on my Facebook page!

  2. What is your favorite Christmas tradition?
Our family does Ann Voscamp's Greatest Gift Advent. We made ornaments and put together a Jesse tree (when I can find the bag)

What is your favorite lip product?
    Red Lipstick

What is your favorite winter scent?
I love the smell of fireplace fire in the night sky, new snow and cedar trees.

What is your go-to winter fashion?
I love to layer- sweaters, dresses, tights, plaid, hats, scarves

Do you prefer to travel or stay home?
I usually love to go other places, but the older I get the harder traveling with kids goes. I usually need some recovery time after. Winter traveling is hard due to possible weather issues

What is your favorite winter hair care product?
A knitted hat... but with my short hair, I tend to look bald. I use a straightener and hair spray most days

What is your favorite winter activity?
    watching the snow fall
Inside - hot coffee and fireplace... snuggled up watching a movie

What is your favorite winter beauty product?
I am not a fan of lotion, but I have dry skin. I love to do face masks and put on Jergens glow lotion, because it gives my paper white legs a bit of color and moisture-- just remember to wash your hands well or you have colored hands.

Do you love or hate snow?
LOVE it! I think if it is going to be cold, we need to be allowed to have snow.

What is your favorite winter comfort food?
SOUP! I love soups and warm sandwiches in the winter

Thumbs up or down for winter?
Thumbs up--- I am by heart a fall lover, but winter is second in my book.
